1 Basic information (Clone)

1.1                Introduction

This technical product documentation is intended to make it easier for you to familiarize yourself with the machine and to use it in accordance with the intended areas of application.

The document contains important information on the safe, correct and economical use of the machine. Paying close attention will help you to avoid dangerous situations, reduce repair costs and downtimes and increase the reliability and service life of the machine.

The technical product documentation contains instructions on accident prevention and environmental protection in accordance with the applicable national laws on these topics. The documentation must always be available where the machine is used.

The documentation must be read and used by all persons who work on the machine, e.g. persons who are entrusted with the following tasks:

  • Operation, including set-up, correcting errors in the work process, care and disposal of operating and auxiliary materials
  • Maintenance (servicing, inspection, repair) and/or
  • Transportation

 

The personnel assigned to work on the machine must have read and understood the technical product documentation, in particular the chapter "Basic safety instructions", before starting work on the machine. Once you have started work, it is too late to read this material. The basic safety instructions must be observed.

The technical product documentation has been prepared in accordance with the following directives and standards:

  • Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC

1.2                Terminology

4th axis

Optional component of the SYIL X and T that speeds up and improves the accuracy of the production process

ATC

Automatic tool changer

Control panel / Controllers panel

Interface where the user can command the machine

Controller

System that is responsible for the logic of the machine

Drawbar

A mechanism in the spindle that grips the toolholder in position

E-Stop / Emergency Stop Button

Manually operated device which is designed to open a circuit to one or more pieces of equipment without creating any additional hazards

Fixed guard

Sheet metal enclosure protecting internal parts of the machine. Tools are required to be able to remove them.

HMI

Human machine interface – See Controller

Interlocked door

Moveable guard equipped with a safe locking mechanism

Key

Any Key on the controller’s keyboard

LED traffic / Light beacon / Signal tower

Stack lights located on the top of the machine used to provide audible/visual indication of the machine status

Magazine/carousel/turret

The portion of the tool changer that houses the tools

Metal cutting fluid

Coolant liquid solutions used in the SYIL X/T to reduce:

Heat produced due to the deformation and machining process Friction and wear and tear on the workpiece

Moveable guard

Sheet metal enclosure or sliding door that can be manually opened or removed, without the need of tools

MSO1 / MSO2 / MSO Service

Levels of user access of the machine

Qualified electrician

Person that has demonstrated skill and knowledge related to the construction and operation of electrical equipment and installations and has received safety training to identify and avoid the hazards involved

Qualified personnel

Personnel who meet the statutory or regulatory qualifications for the specific profession currently applicable

RPM

Revolutions per minute

Softkey

A key whose function may change based on the current screen on the HMI. These are under and to the right of the LCD screen.

T slot

Slots in the table where work holding devices such as fixtures and vices are attached to the table using bolts and T-Slot nuts

Toolbox

Small box of tools provided with the machine

TTC200 / Tool height settler

Sensor to measure the length or height of tools used on the machine

Workpiece / Machined component

A piece of metal or other materials that is clamped inside the machine for mechanical processing

Handwheel /Manual Pulse Generator/MPG

Remote control unit with a handwheel that allows the user to move a single axis in increments. Used for setting up or jogging through a program
